Diet Fitness and Herbs - A Skin Care Remedy

The idea of grabbing a plant and rubbing the leaves all over your face and the rest of your body may not be appealing to you, but be aware that herbal skin care is one of the most effective skin treatments out there. Specific herbs can be used to heal wounds, hydrate the skin, improve skin tone, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
A simple search on the internet will yield you lists of botanical herbs you can use for specific skin treatments. Then you can purchase these herbs at your local nursery or herbalist store. You can also grow the herbs yourself.
In my opinion using the right plants is much cheaper and healthier for your skin than any skin cream or product you will find, even the ones that call themselves "botanicals." Almost all skin creams contain tons of chemicals and junk you don't want on your skin. Yes, there are a few products that are completely organic and those are fine, but do your research because it is easy to get fooled.
Your skin is a sponge and absorbs anything you put onto it. Therefore, you do not want to put anything on your skin you would not eat. Pick up a bottle of skin cream, read the ingredients, and see if it is something you would eat. If you can ingest each of the ingredients it is fine to use.
How Botanicals Work
It isn't the outside leaves of the plant that benefit your skin. It is the oils inside the leaves of specific plants that can offer renewal of the skin.
These oils can also replenish your body's diminishing supply of retinol and collagen, which will keep your skin's elasticity, remove wrinkles, and smooth out rough skin.
Coconut Oil
Although it is not considered an herb I am going to include coconut oil whenever I am talking about natural skin care treatments. Coconut oil is one of the most effective skin treatments with a wide range of uses. It can be rubbed on various parts of your body for:
* Chapped lips
* Sun protection
* Healing a sun burn
* Healing cuts
* Dry skin
* Keeping your skin bright and shiny
* Improving skin tone
Diet And Fitness - Overlooked Skin Treatments
Since toxins in your body are released through your skin your overall skin complexion will give you good feedback as to the quality of your diet and fitness. A high caliber diet is one that is loaded with organic fruits and vegetables. These foods will help regenerate your skin to perfection.
On top of that, thirty minutes to one hour of hard fitness exercise everyday will get you sweating, which is your bodies way of quickly getting rid of toxins. When you sweat out toxins rapidly, they don't cause pimples, discolorations, eczema, rashes etc. A proper diet and exercise regimen will dramatically improve the condition of your skin, how you look, your weight, and how you feel.
Skin Types
Finding the right herbs and plants for your skin type can take some extra time and research on your part. If you can't find what you need on the internet go see your local herbalist. They should be able to help you. Good luck on your journey towards health and wellness!

I am looking for new skin care treatments and never thought of using herbs or coconut oil. It seems like these would be much healthier than the products I am currently using. I never knew coconut oil could be used on so many parts of the body. I will have to remember that the next time I have chapped lips.
When going to the herbalist are there any specific questions I should ask?
